Book Talk

I think i did a better job with my book talk this time:) Last time, i felt kind of unprepared. but this time, i felt like i knew what i was gonna say. i also thought that it was better to present in front of a group rather than doing it in front of only one person. By doing so, i was able to get comments and grading marks from different people instead of just one. i also thought that my visual aid was better than my last one:) my last one really wasn't that prepared and i ended up doing it in the last minute. The one i did this time, i thought, was a masterpiece:)

Respond to Reading: LIFE OF PI

I have read past chapter 90 so i wont mess it up for anybody:) between chapters 80-90, i found out that Pi feels like he is going to die soon now that he has very little resources left to live off of. it seems like Richard Parker is the only thing left to keep Pi from going insane. he was the one who actually gave him the will to live in the first place. but now that he is really low in food and water, i think his will to live has really sank and i think he should give up so easily. he should just keep hoping that something good will come to him eventually.

Connection to Reading

I have switched idie reading books for i am not sure what has happened to the book. Instead, i started to read the last book of the Daughters of the Moon series, called The Final Eclipse. So far in the story, the main character Vanessa is told not to go back to the world of Nefundus and she does so that she can rescue her friend Serena. I think that she made the right choice because she would do anything to rescue her friend, no matter what the cost. I would've done the same thing too if i were her because a friend i would rescue would mean so dearly to me and i wouldn't want to go on life wondering what would have happened if i actually did get that chance to save that person.

Respond to Reading

I am reading a book called "The Rag and Bone Shop". So far it is about a boy named Jason who has a friend, named Alicia, that is murdered. He is questioned at home by a detective. The detective somehow thinks that Jason could've been the person who killed Alicia since he was the one who last saw her. This situation kind of reminds me of an episode of CSI that i saw. I dont quite remember what the story was about, but it had to do with the same situation: the last person who saw the victim alive became the suspect, which meant that that person really was the peron who murdered the victim. In "The Rag and Bone Shop", i don't think that Jason was the one who murdered Alicia because after he found out she was dead, he started to cry.

Book Talk

I think i did a pretty descent job on my book talk because i felt like it wasn't well thought out. i thought i knew what to say but i guess i was wrong; i should've used a note card so that i would've been able to be more specific about what the story was about, the theme, the literary devices, etc. I also had a visual aid/hook but it wasn't finished when i did the book talk because i had failed to come up with anything earlier...but at least i was able to make it look like what i wanted it to turn out to be:) i had also made the mistake of asking ms.crabtree if there was anything more that i was missing or needed to include in my book talk becuase i was left with nothing else to say. i should've asked her if she had any questions about the book...

A Quote from the book "The Prophecy"

Quote: " ' You're the embodiment of the scroll now, Catty,' he said reverentially.'My job is complete. No heir before you has had the courage to do what you did. The Prophecy has been fulfilled.' "

This shows that the character is dynamic because earlier in the book, Catty didn't seem all that brave. She had a prophecy to fulfill and she thought that she would fail, but she had learned to gain courage to actually fufill it. Everyone before her that also had to fufill the same prophecy had failed, so was the only one brave enough to follow her heart.

Connections

i think there are many connections between my book and other titles. The theme of the book Possession is " help can come from the most unexpected places". In the book, the main character receives a little help from her old rival. I've seen TV shows or movies on which the main characters' enemies become their friends or where they receive help from people(or things) they would never expect to get help from.(Also connecting to the book), about a year ago, my cousin used to fight with someone so much(they couldnt stand each other) and now there are really close friends(weird huh?)
